Everything you need to know about Castle Wars: Legacy.
Castle Wars: Legacy is a free turn-based strategy card game playable in any browser. Two players (or one player vs AI) each manage a castle and a hand of cards. Play cards to gather resources, build your castle walls, or attack your opponent's castle. The first player to destroy the enemy castle — or build their own to 100 — wins.
Click Play Now in the navbar to enter a game room, then pick a color (Red or Blue). If no opponent joins within 60 seconds you'll be offered to play against the AI. Each turn, select a card from your hand and click Play, or select up to 3 cards and click Discard to swap them for new ones. Hover over any card to see exactly what it does.
Yes! The tutorial is available from the home page. It walks you through playing your first several cards step by step with guided hints, so you can learn the mechanics before jumping into a real game.
No account is needed. You're automatically given a guest session the moment you visit the site. Creating an account is optional — it links your progress across devices and lets you register a permanent gamer tag.
Each resource is produced every turn by your Builders, Soldiers, and Mages respectively. Bricks fuel construction cards that raise your castle and walls. Weapons power offense cards that attack the enemy. Crystals are used by magic cards, which have powerful special effects. Most cards cost one type of resource, so managing your production mix is key.
There are two win conditions: destroy the opponent's castle (reduce it to 0 HP), or build your own castle to 100 HP. Both paths are viable, so games can swing between aggressive and defensive strategies.
From the game room, copy the URL in your browser and send it to your friend. When they open the link they'll join the same room. Alternatively, share the room code shown on screen. Both of you then pick a color and the game starts automatically.
If an opponent leaves mid-game, the AI automatically takes over their side so your game continues uninterrupted.
Long Game is an async multiplayer mode where you and a friend can take your turns hours or even days apart. When it's your turn, you receive a push notification so you never miss a move. Perfect if you and a friend are in different time zones or just have busy schedules.
The Campaign is a single-player story mode with progressively harder AI opponents across multiple levels. Each level has optional star challenges — like winning under 2 minutes or using specific cards — for extra replay value. Complete levels to unlock the next chapter.
Tournaments let players compete in structured brackets against each other. Enter a tournament, play through the rounds, and climb to the top to prove you're the best. Keep an eye on the home page for active and upcoming tournaments.
Coins are earned by winning games. They may unlock more features in the future. You need at least one win — and therefore one coin — before you can register an account.
Every game affects your ELO rating — win and it goes up, lose and it goes down. Games against a real opponent apply the full rating change, while games against AI count for half as much. The change is also larger when you beat a higher-rated opponent and smaller when you beat a lower-rated one. Your rank is visible on the Toplist.
Guest progress (wins, coins, campaign stars) is stored in a session cookie that persists for 30 days. Registering an account permanently saves your progress and lets you access it from any device.

Yes, the game is fully responsive and tested on phones and tablets. For the best mobile experience, install it as a Progressive Web App (PWA) — tap the install prompt or use your browser's 'Add to Home Screen' option. The PWA is only available on the cwl.proclive.io domain.
Push notifications are used exclusively for Long Game mode to alert you when it's your turn. Click 'Enable Notifications' in Settings and accept the browser prompt. You'll receive a notification even when the game tab is closed.
Try a hard refresh (Ctrl+Shift+R or Cmd+Shift+R) to clear cached assets. If the game board is blank, check that your browser allows WebSockets (required for real-time play). If problems persist, try a different browser or report the issue via the in-game chat.
